If you are still reading, fishing contest rules are below.
2025 Ice Fishing contest Rules:
Fish eligible for the ice fishing contest must be caught from Lake Namakagon (including Garden and Jackson), during contest hours of 12:01am and 4pm on Saturday, February 1st, 2025.
Fishing people must purchase an orange Cash Raffle ticket prior to fishing. This is your entry into the tournament and the cash raffle. Keep your ticket stub or ticket number handy so we can record it when registering fish.
All fish and contestants must meet DNR requirements. All fishing regulations for Bayfield County, Lake Namakagon and the State of Wisconsin will be followed. Any fish illegally caught will be disqualified.
Winning fish will be determined by length to the nearest 1/8th inch. In the event of a tie, the first fish registered will take priority.
Fish measuring will take place from 11am – 4pm at Loon Saloon. No late entries allowed! Any fish brought in for the tournament after 4pm will not be considered and disqualified.
Contestants are responsible for verification of length of fish at time of measuring.
The decision of the judge is final.
Categories: northern, walleye, crappie, bluegill, and perch.
Cash prizes will be paid out for 1st and 2nd place in each category.
Catch, register, and release is highly encouraged!
Contestants are always responsible for their own safety, actions, and property.
Any tampering with the length of fish will automatically disqualify anglers from the contest.
Note: There is a “no keep” slot size for walleyes. Therefore, fish under 15” or from 20”-24” do not qualify for the tournament. Check DNR regulations for the full rules, regulations, and bag limits.
